Icelandic Sheepdog Puppy, Lokasteinn Kiska.  Kiska is one of five puppies born May 25, 2010.  Her parents are Blue Zafir Esja Anaegja and Vinlands Tenzing.  Kiska is a dark chocolate sable female, carrying the gene for tri-color and the gene for chocolate.

Lokasteinn Kiska started life a little smaller than her litter mates but quickly caught up.  She soon became one of the more active puppies exploring everything in her world.  She learned to pull on the musical toy we attached to the side of the whelping box.  The first time she did it, we were startled but discovered the source of the music.   When we checked the whelping box, Kiska would be standing by the toy tilting her head back and forth.  She was very proud of herself and even happier to discover that we always came to check on her when she  pulled the bottom of the musical toy. 

Here are the puppies in reverse birth order:  Kiska, Brenna, Lokkadis, Edda and Ari.  By this time each puppy was starting to develope their unique personalities.  Kiska was very playful and inquisitive.  Here she on the the right with one of her favorite toys.  She would often try to crawl inside the toy and end up walking around with it over her neck.

Nancy’s first visit to meet and bond with their Kiska.  It was love at first site!

Kiska thinks she can get Mom Anaegja to come back to nurse if she pulls on Mom’s tail.  It didn’t work and this was just one of the many lessons Anaegja had in store for her puppies.
