Icelandic Sheepdogs in America
The founders of Icelandic Sheepdogs in America are not affiliated with any one club but all are breeders who believe in leading by example. We realize that rescue need not be the first safety net for an Icelandic Sheepdog in need. We employ return to breeder clauses in our new owner agreement contracts and take responsibility for re-homing our puppies and older dogs when the need arises to assure their welfare. We follow the best breeding practices, health testing the sires and dams of our litters, guard against over breeding or breeding too young and we register all of our dogs with the AKC and follow AKC breeding guidelines. All studs and brood bitches must be AKC registered and breeders must follow AKC breeding guidelines to be listed on this website.

Thrymheim Icelandics
Michigan

Currently has Puppies

Thrymheim Icelandics:    -  Our Icelandic Sheepdogs are registered with the AKC, and some with the CKC.  We do health testing on our dogs, that includes testing for hip and eye disorders.  All dogs are evaluated as they mature. Before they can be added to our breeding program we evaluate for temperment, characteristics that comply with the breed standard and do testing for hip and eye disorders.

We breed for puppies that will be wonderful family additions, that will work well in a farm environment, as well as dogs that can be used for events such as agility and showing in the conformation or obedience ring.

Liz and Viking Dogs

Viking Icelandics Liz was one of the founding members of the ISAA in 1997.  Liz and her husband Bob live with 8 beautiful Icelandic Sheepdogs.  Virkis-Tyri, Vikings Bjork, Asa-Grima, Viking Freyja, Vikings KoKo, Istolt Aska, Viking Feimin and Viking Syfjuth (Tasha).  Liz has been very influential educating other breeders and potential owners regarding the importance of health tests and registration of all dogs.  Liz believes that breeders should protect the integrity of the breed so they remain the sweet good natured dogs that the Icelanders have produced over many centuries.

TK Icelandics
Canada

TK Icelandics is a working farm in the east central Alberta prairie.  We started going into Icelandic sheep and dogs when Auður, a native Icelander, had started to miss “her kind of animals”! We are running both registered and unregistered sheep here on our ranch. We are second and third generation working this land with a herd of 300 Angus based cows. Both our flock and herd are naturally raised and fed, outside in the fresh air and sunshine and are under low stress management. Of course our Icelandic dogs help with the critters, work very well and are beautiful pets also. Ralph was really impressed with their disposition when he first met an Icelandic dog. We have also added a couple of Icelandic Horses to the ranch, two young mares that are being trained by Catherine Seale, she uses TTouch method and it is beautiful to see her work with the horses.
